The goal of the Chest Pain Center at University of Louisville Hospital is expeditious diagnosis, testing, treatment, and education on the risk factors associated with heart disease and the symptoms associated with a heart attack.

Patients with chest pain that have ECG’s and labwork inconclusive of a cardiac cause, but may have risk factors for heart disease are treated by the Chest Pain Center. This is a virtual observation unit, meaning that patients stay in the same bed/area until undergoing a stress test to rule out a probable cardiac cause. If the stress test is negative for any changes they will be sent home to follow up with their MD or a referral to an MD/Provider can be initiated.
