Research!Louisville Participation
Research!Louisville is a yearly collaboration between area hospitals and universities to promote nursing research.
The initiative gives each organization an opportunity to highlight its work in three areas: evidence-based practice, quality improvement and research.
In 2011, UofL Health Care Nursing was the host organization.
Other participants included:
- University of Louisville
- Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare
- Baptist Hospital East
- Spalding University
- Bellarmine University
The committee hosted a symposium on October 18, 2011, that introduced nurses to the successful identification and completion of a clinical research project. It also explored how this research impacts patient care.
The keynote speaker, Marianne Chulay, RN, Ph.D., FAAN, was back by popular demand from last year’s program. Dr.Chulay’s warm and humorous presentation style helped to demystify nursing research.
This year’s event was a success with the 185 attendees, who gave the symposium great reviews. An invitation-only mentor workshop was held the night before the symposium. Chulay also spoke at this event. Each organization that assisted in the coordination and planning of the symposium brought six individuals to this special workshop.
