The Department of Pharmacy at University of Louisville Health Care offers a Post-Graduate Year Two (PGY2) ASHP accredited Oncology Pharmacy Residency Program. The program is an advanced, comprehensive training that provides the resident the opportunity to develop competency in clinical oncology pharmacy practice and become an autonomous practitioner.

Medical Center

The James Graham Brown Cancer Center is a key component of the University of Louisville Health Sciences Center located in the heart of Louisville, Kentucky. As an academic center, our patient care is approached utilizing a multidisciplinary team of experts including physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other health care professionals. The University Hospital has 405 licensed beds and provides care to patients in Louisville, central and western Kentucky, and in the surrounding tri-state area. Oncology patient care areas include a 15 bed general oncology floor, 17 bed bone marrow transplant/oncology intensive care unit and an oncology outpatient infusion clinic. The James Graham Brown Center has nine outpatient multidisciplinary oncology clinics in addition to patient support services.

Oncology Pharmacy Services

Oncology pharmacy services are located in the James Graham Brown Cancer Center. Clinical oncology pharmacists participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds on the inpatient oncology services and are responsible for therapeutic drug monitoring, nutrition support, patient education, staff education and maintaining the continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient transition. Additionally, clinical oncology pharmacy services are provided in multidisciplinary oncology clinics. Weekly educational opportunities available include pharmacy journal club, cancer care pharmacy conference, solid tumor multidisciplinary conference and hematology conference.

Oncology Pharmacy Residency Program

The oncology pharmacy practice residency is a 12-month program. Currently, eight months are dedicated to core rotations and four rotations are available for electives.

Application Process
Candidates interested in the program should submit a letter of interest explaining career goals, a curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, and an academic transcript. Please provide all application documents in one mailing to the residency program director. Only complete application packets received by the deadline will be reviewed for selection of on-site interview. Selected candidates will be contacted for an on-site interview to take place in late January and early February.

Application requirements: PharmD degree, completion of a pharmacy practice residency or equivalent experience, eligibility for licensure in Kentucky
